Come one, come all!
The King’s Coronation could be a lifesaver for many retailers.
The extra bank holiday, general good spirit, and a willingness of the UK to get behind the crown could all add up to some big spending in spring 2023, which is much needed after a gloomy Christmas.
It’s a new opportunity for retailers both on and offline – the importing industry is already seeing traffic for merchandise and goods due to be sold to consumers in the coming months. Many e-commerce shops already have items ready to buy online.
The current cost of living crisis is forefront of many people’s minds, retailers are growing more dependent on any opportunity to boost their profits and visibility.
We also know that online shopping has changed since the pandemic – many businesses were built on this unique shared experience but are now seeing a downturn as people return to previous spending habits plus the tightening of belts to pay for heating and other essential items as costs increase.
However, we saw retail sales go up slightly in January (this was a result of Jan price cuts) as reported by the BBC News. So perhaps now we can look to be a bit more optimistic?
Independent market research, monitored by InXpress shows >>
- The global economy looks to have turned a corner at the start of 2023, with recent data coming in better than expected while business surveys in January have shown a clear improvement.
- The UK avoided a ‘technical recession’ in the second half of last year, albeit only by the narrowest of margins; meanwhile HSBC expects the Bank of England to raise interest rates one last time in March, taking UK Bank Rate to 4.25%.
We wonder how confident our customers are feeling about sales as they enter the Summer and whether they are also planning ahead in order to meet the likely celebratory purchases as the Coronation approaches….
Do you need to import more in order to meet this rise in demand?
Perhaps you need to respond quickly – we can help you do this.
Some things to chew over as you plan:
- Consider your shipping time and how competitive you want to be in delivery times (plus the cost related to that)
- Keeping agile is key – find a solution that can flex and change as you need it to, without incurring higher costs when you have less to dispatch.
- Be open to the best sourcing opportunities – it’s not too late to import the goods you need.
Dare we say it, perhaps it’s time to be proactive and optimistic about your business!
We are cheering you on.
